HANIEH DELECROIX
WOMAN, LIFE, FREEDOM, EQUALITY, FRATERNITY
AS PART OF THE PAVILIONS OF THE FUTURE
Born in 1974 in Tehran (Iran), Hanieh Delecroix now lives and works in Paris. As a child, she experienced it all. Exile, social downgrading, questioning of its identity, the Iranian revolution shook the comfort of this family of lawyers.
In Paris, she sketched out a dual culture, marrying Persian lapis lazuli with French blue. Love at first sight took place with Rose Issa, the main pioneer of the contemporary Arab and Iranian scene, and allowed her to appear in numerous private collections, as well as that of the British Museum, to exhibit at the Musée du Quai Branly or at the Palais de Tokyo.
“Artist, she chose to cherish her sorrows – her words. She kisses, she takes in her arms, she sings in French and in Persian, her native language, these words which could have hurt her and which still torment her.” Daniel Bernard
