El mejor truco de magia jamas visto

Leyla Selman, Cristobal Troncoso, Evelyn Martinez, Sebastian Troncoso, Mauricio Agüero

A magical moment where the masks fall away.

Margarita has a strange habit: she attends funerals as if it were an addiction. Rosa, whom she has just met, confronts her with this truth she preferred to ignore. To “cure” herself, Margarita attends an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. What begins as an amusing confession gradually transforms into something far more complex.

This participatory contemporary theater performance walks the line between laughter and unease. It invites you to an intimate encounter where appearances become ambiguous, where irony rubs shoulders with disquiet.

An immersive and unsettling theatrical experience

In this performance, the boundary between theater and reality gradually blurs. The audience is not merely an observer but becomes an actor in a drama that illuminates our own flaws, our denials, and our capacity to face the truth.

With its script woven with ambiguity, this performance questions addictive behaviors and the self-protective mechanisms that govern our relationships. The appearance of a simple confessional narrative conceals a subtle critique of our ability to avoid reality.

A moment of disorientation to be experienced together, where discomfort becomes a tool for transformation, and where laughter and unease go hand in hand. An invitation to discover what truly lies behind the masks we all wear.

Performance in Spanish with English and French subtitles.

What you think you understand at the beginning will not be quite the same at the end.

Company presentation

Frío Teatro and L'Aristotelia Chilensis, two Biobío-based companies, combine the dramaturgy of Leyla Selman with the performance practice of Cristóbal Troncoso. Together, they create a unique contemporary theatrical language based on audience participation, immersive storytelling, and the exploration of emotions. Their approach blends rigorous artistic research with political relevance.
This project is part of the Chile Pavilion program, co-organized by La Manufacture, the Chilean Ministry of Culture, Prochile, the French Institute of Chile, and ONDA.
