Le Cri

When you sleep you’re not hungry

Anthony Martine

“When You Sleep You’re Not Hungry” is an Afro-queer medieval tale.
Taking as his starting point his two years of preparatory literary studies at the Lycée Henri IV, Anthony Martine intends to explore the complexities of being Black and queer while having grown up and dreamed as white and heterosexual.

The event on July 15 is part of the Programme.Q (as queer).

Nothing new under the sun. Nothing new. It's still burning our faces just as much.

In the press

"At 27, he has just written his first show, a brilliantly executed piece—he performed it in early October at Théâtre 13 in Paris and will begin a tour in 2026. This energetic social tale mixes references, from his own story to Shrek, from Fanny Ardant to Afro-descendant thinkers ( ... )."

Télérama

"A unique and unexpected piece presented at the Jerk Off Festival at Théâtre 13 , he explodes traditional theatrical conventions with an "Afro-queer medieval tale" that blends genres in a funny and audacious way."
