L'Extra
L’EXTRA is a new-generation multipurpose space in Avignon that will feature performance halls, shared workspaces, reception and social areas, a set design workshop, and residencies for French and international artists and cultural professionals during the festival and throughout the year. Starting this summer, a first new 230-seat auditorium will be available, equipped with motorized fly bars, an electric retractable seating system, state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment, and a ground-level set storage/workshop space ensuring optimal operational efficiency during the festival. This flexible facility, occupying a 1,800 m³ space, offers new and modern possibilities in the Off program for frontal stage designs as well as innovative projects seeking bi-, tri-, or quadri-frontal setups and standing performances, catering to creators in theater, dance, contemporary music/concerts, and circus, allowing them to develop the imaginations of today and tomorrow within a major international festival using the best current and adaptable technical resources. The space will also be able to host exhibitions and training sessions on a total surface area of 1,000 m² by early 2027, easily accessible across from the ramparts and near the Avignon Centre train station.
