Paris and Miki

Michael De Cock / KVS

Thirty years ago, Michael De Cock saw a poster showing a small boy with a flute, alongside a question that has haunted him ever since. Can art save the world? And if so, how?

In his search for an answer, De Cock takes you on a journey along unexpected paths and roads — from Tomorrowland to the backstage of the KVS, from the Louvre to the far ends of the earth. He sings, dances and tells stories: of a nocturnal walk through Brussels with Paris Hilton, of Prince, Emma Bovary and Jan Fabre. Each story a stepping stone, each detour a revelation.

Paris and Miki is a deeply personal show that will finally make you understand that without imagination, we are worth almost nothing.

An exhilarating solo. Call it a show like a rocket of pleasure — but with a mission. – Focus Knack

Michael De Cock - Writer, creator and solo artist

Michael De Cock sets the intimate and the political in dialogue — the personal story alongside the great movements of the world. Author, writer, director and dramaturg, he has led the KVS in Brussels since 2017, shaping it into an open and inclusive theatre, alive with contemporary, multiethnic languages and narratives. His writing — expansive and porous — welcomes the voices of a world in motion. From May 2026, he will take over as director of the Théâtre de Liège, driven by the conviction that theatre can be a compass — a human and political crossroads in a world searching for its bearings.

Stef Depover - scenographie

Stef Depover is a Belgian scenographer with a rich career spanning theatre, film and television. Since the 1980s he has collaborated with pioneering companies and major theatre houses across Belgium and the Netherlands, while also developing projects for the screen. His work, unfolding across several decades, is distinguished by a strong visual dramaturgy and a remarkable ability to adapt to widely varied artistic worlds.

In the press

"An exhilarating solo. Call it a show like a rocket of pleasure — but with a mission."

Focus Knack

"The intimate setting offers a profound experience. Only Imagination is a show that draws tears of laughter as well as deep emotion. De Cock's gift for storytelling is so powerful that you feel as though you are listening to a gripping film unfold."

Pzazz

"Michael De Cock calls on Belgium to make culture a political priority. Polyphonic and mixed-blooded, exploratory, autobiographical and self-deprecating — at once cruel and funny, and deeply moving."
