Iskanderia leh ?

Anne Le Batard, Jean-Antoine Bigot

For Iskanderia leh? Ex Nihilo has brought together an international team, in which each of the dancers – Peruvian, Korean, Egyptian and French – is traversed by a plural history and has shaped a multifaceted identity, with a tension in their bodies caught between the resurgence of traditional dance forms and the language of freedom that is contemporary dance, a language at once foreign and common.

How do you cross the corniche in Alexandria? What’s your technique? It’s a dance, you can’t hesitate… If you stop, you die!

Company presentation

Created in 1994, Ex Nihilo is codirected by Anne Le Batard and Jean-Antoine Bigot. Ex Nihilo develops both the idea of public space as a specific place for choreographic research and creation, as well as connecting public space to art venues by questioning the theater stage and is based at La Cité des arts de la rue in Marseilles.

The company has always been involved in long-term cooperation projects with its accomplices from France and around the world. In 2016, Ex Nihilo led a 3-year Creative Europe project of training for contemporary dance in public and singular spaces, SHAPERS.
