Bamako Basketball Players

Djeneba DIABATE, Mariam DIAKITE, Koumba Alimatou DJIRE, Djenebou FANE, Ramata KONE, Maïmouna N’Diaye.

Six Malian performers from diverse backgrounds — dancers, singers, basketball players — come together on stage in a dazzling choreography, bringing extraordinary energy to this creation by juggler and director Thomas Guérineau. This new form of musical juggling is directly inspired by Mandingue and contemporary polyrhythms. A show at the crossroads of dance, juggling, and music, accessible to all audiences.

This project has been recognized with the Paris 2024 Cultural Olympiad label.

The gesture overflows, the sound bursts forth — giving rise to an intensely vibrant work of musical juggling.

During this time, he developed a strong focus on the art of gesture, especially through his connection with Philippe Minella. He also participated in research workshops with Dominique Boivin, Francesca Lattuada, and Sophie Meyer. While at circus school, he taught himself clarinet. His interest in dance led him to take part in opera ballets, working with stage director Erik Kruger and choreographers Tessa Beaumont and Alban Richard. Later, he also taught himself percussion and singing.
