La Manufacture opens L'Extra
a 1,000 m2 cultural venue overlooking Avignon's city walls

In 2026, La Manufacture opens L’Extra, a new 1,000-square-metre cultural venue located at 1 Route de Montfavet, overlooking Avignon’s city walls. Dedicated to the performing arts, the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI), and contemporary music, L’Extra has been designed as a space for creation, performance, and artistic exchange.

Initiated by the Malivern Group, based in Rennes and bringing together several leading cultural organisations—including the Festival Mythos, le mem, concert venue, Spectaculaires – Allumeurs d’Images, and End Event —this investment will give rise, from July 2026, to a new-generation cultural facility.

The venue will feature a flexible 230-seat theatre, equipped with retractable seating, three motorised lighting grids, and ground-level scenery storage. Thanks to its adaptable configuration, it will also be able to host contemporary music concerts for up to 600 standing audience members.

In January 2027, the project will be expanded with a second 120-seat theatre, along with a coworking space dedicated to the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) and cultural professionals, complemented by a programme of national and international artist residencies.

The venue will be operated year-round by La Manufacture. Led by Pascal Keiser and Frédéric Poty, the organisation is currently developing the artistic programme that will be presented there.

“We are especially pleased to offer artists and creators a modern, versatile venue designed to support new forms of artistic creation. Conceived to accommodate every stage configuration, host live music performances and encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration, L’Extra will be a place for creation, residencies, performances and encounters throughout the year. Connected to La Manufacture’s national and international partners—which this year include artists from twelve countries—this investment represents a strong commitment to culture in Avignon. It is essential to supporting the contemporary and multidisciplinary artistic practices that we have championed since 2001, both today and in the years to come.”
