Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas
Following the success of L’Addition at the 2023 Avignon Festival, Bert & Nasi return with Tonight. Halfway between performance and theatre, Tonight is a two-person monologue, a hall-of-mirrors game where repetition becomes an art form, and the present moment an absurd playground. Each night, the same thing – and yet, never quite.
That’s the duo’s true strength: making us laugh at the obvious, at theatre’s mechanics, at our enduring need to believe.
Their chemistry evokes Laurel and Hardy, their writing flirts with that of Monty Python, and their visual world recalls the films of David Lynch.
It is precise, minimalist, irreverent, and terribly human.
Two men, one evening, and the delightfully absurd art of starting over!
Company presentation
They began their career in 2015, at the height of budget cuts in England.
Their work, which blends performance, dance, and theater, is stripped-down, minimalist, and free of any superfluous content or message, aiming to connect with the audience in the simplest way possible.
In 2020, they received the Forced Entertainment Award (in honor of Huw Chadbourn), which celebrates those who strive to reinvent theater in new ways and for new audiences in the United Kingdom.
Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas - Text / Direction / Performance
Bertand and Nasi are a duo of performance artists who met in 2015 and have since created an entire repertoire of shows amid a period of national and international austerity. Their work, in turn, is stripped-down and minimalist, while exploring complex ideas and emotions. Their shows fall somewhere between performance art, dance, and theater, but if you had to pin them down, they would probably say it’s theater.
