Their names are Francis and Antoine Pedros. One is the father, the other the son—both are dancers. One was a soloist with the Royal Ballet of Wallonia, the other is an urban dancer specializing in locking—a funk dance style associated with hip-hop.
When choreographer Maria Clara Villa-Lobos met the Pedros family—a whole family of dancers!—an idea began to take shape: to tell the intertwined story of a father and son through dance. Francis’s journey as a dancer and teacher is interwoven with that of his son Antoine, who saw his father dance even before he was aware of his own body.
In an intergenerational duet where youthful energy meets the wisdom of age, Pedros tells the story of a father and son through the shared language of dance, but also through their words, memories, personal archives, and anecdotes—weaving a link between past and present, between two generations of dancers. A journey of tenderness and disillusionment, an ode to the dancing body, no matter its age.
