Parler Pointu

Hélène François, Benjamin Tholozan, Brice Ormain

Benjamin grew up in a village in the south of France, a latin, violent, vibrant land. A land of bullfighting. The trivial and the sacred are constantly intertwined. His whole family still lives there, and they all speak with a southern accent. Except him. He speaks “pointu”. The accent of those in power.

Parler Pointu tells the story of the gradual relinquishment of regional languages and accents, and what that loss reveals on a intimate and political level. In this historical and family journey, Benjamin Tholozan offers us a exhilarating moment, embodying with passion, joy and precision, the colorful figures of his family as well as the characters who made Touraine’s “beau-parler”, the French language still known as a reference today.

In the press

Bravo !
