We are 46,000 species of spiders in the world, how am I supposed to find my own style ? For Elsa, it means playing a spider in the haunted house at Parc Astérix. Five hours a day in costume : is that better or worse than working on a factory line ? Every evening, she comes out exhausted. So between two work sessions, the ambitious spider is working on her future solo show : a mix of stand-up, concert, and musical theatre inspired by Gloria Gaynor’s song I Am What I Am. Elsa Delmas presents a jubilant and autobiographical performance, which she sums up as : « a show about spiders, shitty jobs, and self-acceptance ».

The Mantis Shrimp exists. This animal, which is not a product of our imagination, is a cross between a shrimp and a praying mantis. It’s a tiny, incredible crustacean with the most advanced eyes in the animal kingdom. It has inspired the design of motorcycle helmets and cameras. It also inspires theater plays, and even lends its name to a theatre company based in Caen (Normandy) — "Crevette-Mante" in french — helm by Elsa Delmas. Driven by the energy of this super-shrimp, she aims to create super-performances. Her favorite tools are comedy, absurdity, autofiction, and performance art.

Elsa Delmas - Text, performance and direction

Elsa Delmas trained at the Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Limoges in Michel Bruzat's class, then joined the Cité-Théâtre in Caen in 2016. There she created 'On verra bien', her first play about the efforts we make to be loved. As an actress, she has performed in 'La Folle Idée' (Théâtre des Crescite - Angelo Jossec), Dennis Kelly's 'DEBRIS' (directed by Lisa-Marion McGlue), 'Demokratia Melancholia' (Le Ballon Vert - Amélie Clément) and 'RPZ - Rond Point Zone' (Pauline Cescau). She played in 'Pinocchio', directed by Martin Legros and Sophie Lebrun from Collectif Cohue. She is the artistic director of the company La Crevette-Mante, with which she directed 'Merci de votre compréhension', and is currently preparing 'Risque de chute', her next show.
