The MAYDAY distress call comes from the French M’AIDER, “Help me”.
The performance is a danced account of a rescue boat driver aboard a humanitarian ship in the central Mediterranean. Guillaume Hallier acts out his typical duties as a sailor, which become a coded dance.
Through the state of the body and the expression of emotions, we are led to understand what is happening in the middle of the sea. The rescue goes beyond the simple extraction of refugees from a vessel in distress; it is extended along an aquatic frontier where lived experiences collide.
Sound director Anouk Edmont guides the narrative through a collection of sounds recorded by director Jean-Baptiste Bonnet aboard the SOS Méditerranée organization’s Ocean Viking.
The performance is followed by a Q&A session with SOS Méditerranée and the artistic team.

Company presentation
Founded in 2018 by choreographers Jennifer Dubreuil-Houthemann and Guiomar Campos, CAD Plateforme sponsors and oversees choreographic projects by artists residing in and around the city of Brest, in relation to its context and its inhabitants, by providing administration, working tools, expertise, and human resources.
CAD Plateforme is sponsoring the projects of choreographer Fiona Houez as an “Independent Associate Artist”: “Asmara”, created in 2023, and “M'Aider”, created in 2025.
Fiona HOUEZ - Choregrapher
Fiona Houez began her career in rhythmic gymnastics and was introduced at age 17 to contemporary dance at the Conservatory of Brest and the Pointes de l’Avenir school. She trained professionally in Catalonia with SEED’s youth ballet, directed by Olga Cobos and Peter Mika. In 2015, she joined Danish company NEXT ZONE for two projects. She then relocated to Edinburgh to work the with the production ROGUE VILLAGE, aimed at young audiences.
She continues to collaborate on various audiovisual projects between France and Belgium. In 2017, she put a hold on her career as a dancer to join an association aiding refugees in Paris. She spent a year working with homeless minors. After this experience, she met Guiomar Campos and joined the autonomous associated artists of CAD Plateforme, co-directed by Jennifer Dubreuil Houtheman. She will launch her own first show, ASMARA, based on her first-hand experience in street encampments, with a lawyer on stage, testimonies and contemporary dance. Since 2023, she has performed with Catherine Dreyfus' company ACT2 in the children’s show "Le Mensonge". In parallel, she co-directs the AZADI company alongside dancer and lighting designer Roméo Lasne for their street performance, NISHIKE. She is also working with the Lamento company on the show Immobile et Rebondi #2.
Fiona Houez’s choreographic work is built upon non-professionals taking the stage and sharing their own experiences.
