In 1890, in the Jewish quarter of Marrakech, Ephraim and Efrat are in love. In 2020, Jesus lives with his companion and dreams of family building. Over the course of reflections on the questions of adoption and origins, he goes to investigate a legend that would have his ancestor Ephraim traveled from Marrakech to Jerusalem on a donkey.
The smile in the words, the play in French, Arabic and Hebrew weaves over several generations this intertwining of lives of links and exile. Le Sel tells the fate of those who leave and those who stay in a dazzling spectacle that crosses borders and languages.
