The world is in crisis, and we were born into it. It’s up to us to change it, it’s obvious… And what if we started with a caterpillar?

Doing the caterpillar all together on an evening of performance. The project is simple, yet this seemingly trivial festive ritual triggers powerful reactions: rejection, pleasure, euphoria. For some, it even touches on tradition. Using the caterpillar as a starting point, the La Cabale collective questions our relationship with ridicule and shame, turning this dance into a political, sociological, and ecological subject.

KERMESSE could be a social experiment. Would we be capable of initiating a national reconciliation through a dance? And what if, to save the world, we needed to start by saving ourselves?

Company presentation

Established in 2018, the collective La Cabale, composed of 9 actors, pursues the path of contemporary and distinctive theater. All having met at the Cours Florent, they created their first show, PAN, while continuing their respective training in various national schools. Upon their graduation, they came together for their first collective writing endeavor: KERMESSE. Improvisation lies at the heart of their creative process. Using the stage as an outlet, comedy, the collective's flagship, serves as their means to address contemporary issues.

Certains y participent allègrement, d'autres la trouvent embarrassante. La chenille, danse d'apparence anodine, est pourtant source de puissantes réactions. De la honte au rejet, en passant par l'euphorie et la tradition... Ce sont toutes les spécificités de cette danse que tente d'incarner le spectacle KERMESSE!
