I’M TOO GREEN

David Lescot

I’m too green is the sequel to I’ve too many friends, which followed on from I’m too scared, both previously presented at a Manufacture.
Me continues his apprenticeship in 6th grade, that pivotal period in his life: this time, he’s sent to a green class. He is guided in this new life by Valérie, the daughter of the family, who does not spare him in this initiation. But the rural world also introduces him to nature, the real thing, with its harsh realities and bewitching legends. Meanwhile, at home, his 3-year-old sister has become aware of the dangers facing the planet, and refuses to accept climate inaction…

When life in the countryside becomes a rite of passage.

Company presentation

The Kaïros company's aesthetic is that of a hybrid theater, where text, music and song play an equal role in a constant dialogue and exchange.
Through these forms, David Lescot's writing attempts to capture the questions that agitate the social, political and economic body, and subject individuals, human beings, to the most extreme situations.
Founded in 2001, the Kaïros company carries out David Lescot's projects in fields as wide-ranging as children's shows, musicals and opera.

David Lescot - Author / Director

For David Lescot, the theater is a constantly reinvented crossroads, where his own expressions - writing, music, rhythm, directing, acting and movement - can mingle.
Associate artist at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, David Lescot writes and directs plays and operas in France and abroad.
His play "Portrait of Ludmilla in Nina Simone", which he has performed with Ludmilla Dabo since 2017, is still touring today, in France and abroad (including the USA and the Edinburgh Fringe).
After creating the musical "Une Femme se déplace" with 15 actors, singers, dancers and musicians at the Printemps des Comédiens in 2019, he will create "La Force qui ravage tout" with the same team at the Théâtre de la Ville in 2024.
For opera, in 2022 he adapted and staged Mozart une Journée particulière at La Seine musicale, under the direction of Laurence Equilbey (Insula Orchestra).
In 2023, he will stage Donizetti's L'Elixir d'amour in Rennes, then Nantes, Angers and Nancy (musical director Chloé Dufresnes).
The same year, to open IRCAM's Festival Manifeste, he staged Luciano Berio's Laborintus 2, based on a poem by Eduardo Sanguinetti, with the Ars Nova orchestra.

David Lescot has also created several plays for young audiences, which have been part of the company's repertoire since their creation: the trilogy counting the adventures of a young boy about to enter 6th grade: "I'm too scared" in 2017, then in 2021, "I've too many friends" and in 2025, "I'm too green". 2022 sees the creation "Since I'm born" as part of Odyssées en Yvelines.
David Lescot's plays are published by Editions Actes Sud-Papiers, Gallimard and Solitaires Intempestifs, and have been translated, published and performed in many languages.
David Lescot won the Molière for theatrical revelation in 2009 for "La Commission Centrale de l'Enfance", and the Prix Théâtre de la SACD in 2015. He won the Prix de la Syndicat de la Critique for best French-language creation for "Those who remains" in 2014 and for "Les Ondes Magnétiques" - presented at the Comédie Française in 2018. In 2022, he won the Molière for best show for young audiences for "I've too many friends".

In the press

Comic effects guaranteed and a short course on sustainable agriculture to boot. Delightful.

Télérama

We laugh a lot, are often moved, and sometimes wonder.

Le Monde

The director's tone is remarkably appropriate for tackling ecological issues with children.

Libération

A keen observer, David Lescot understands that the classe verte is above all an initiatory experience.

Le Canard enchaîné

And it's the taste of growing up that we rediscover in contact with these teenagers whom we now feel we know up close. Definitely cult!
