Mohamed El Khatib
Mohamed El Khatib wanted to write a text based on interviews with his mother. On February 20, 2012, her death interrupted everything. On her hospital bed, his mother asks him: “No operation or anything? – No nothing. They can’t do anything anymore. »
The inner fragmentation of this orphan son is embodied in a discontinuous story, served by a composite form: newspapers extracts, emails sent and received, voice recordings, text messages, videos… The intimate material embraces fiction and documentary. These snapshots of life evoke family, country, mother tongue, memory, mourning. Through this moving, but also caustic and often funny, cartography, Mohamed El Khatib, alone on stage, carries this autobiographical story.
Mohamed El Khatib returns to La Manufacture 10 years later, with this emblematic piece created in 2014, in tribute to his mother.
