À la trace…

Damien Noury, Julien Jolly

Navigating between thrilling tracker stories and reflections accessible to all, A la trace… takes us on a journey through tales of wolves, bears, and bees—steeped in both reality and wonder. Immersed in a visual setup reminiscent of a large picture book, and accompanied by an electro-infused sound and musical environment, the spoken lecture becomes a medium for a moving and captivating experience.

An adaptation for the stage of a public lecture by eco-philosopher Baptiste Morizot, this piece invites us to reimagine, in an inspiring way, our relationship with the rest of the living world, and to face the new times ahead with hope.

Dragons and unicorns fill our stories. What I want to say here is that perhaps we don’t need to imagine fantastic creatures to bring enchantment into our lives.

Company presentation

Damien Noury - Artistic direction and performance

Author and performer, creator and designer of hybrid stage productions – blending musical performances and theatrical concerts. Trained as an actor, he began with several theatrical experiences as both actor and director, before discovering slam poetry in 2002. Eager to explore this space of free poetic expression, he co-founded the company Cie Uppercut with his collaborators. Together, they developed the concept of Pulse-Poetry: a musical, choral, and embodied form of poetry. Between 2003 and 2017, six productions were created, earning acclaim from audiences and professionals alike, touring widely across France and internationally.

During this time, his texts were published in several anthologies, and he recorded a track for the compilation Tout Feu Tout Slam, released by EMI. Drawn especially to musical forms, he also engaged in several jazz collaborations, and in 2014 founded the group Bleu Silex. Blending electro-rock and spoken word, the group released two EPs (2015–2018) and performed regularly on stage until 2020.

Since 2017, he has been based in Brittany, where he created in 2021 Les Voix du Verbe – a testimonial-tribute to the voices of poets who have inspired him. This was followed by Élocutions (a solo slam performance) and La Caravan’Slam (a traveling open poetry stage in Côtes d’Armor). In connection with his creative work, he also runs workshops on writing and oral performance with a wide range of audiences.

2024 creation: À LA TRACE, a visual and musical lecture designed for children, inspired by Tracking Fabulous Creatures, a text by eco-philosopher Baptiste Morizot.

Julien Jolly - Musician and composer

Musician, composer, and producer. A trained drummer, he has performed in France and internationally across numerous jazz, chanson, and hip-hop projects. From 2003 to 2019, he accompanied Olivier Py in the show Miss Knife and produced the latter’s second album in 2012. Building on this longstanding collaboration, Olivier Py invited him to compose the music for Hamlet à l’impératif in 2021, followed in 2022 by Ma jeunesse exaltée, an 11-hour theatrical epic produced by the Festival d’Avignon.

Since 2015, he has regularly composed music for musical readings produced by the Maison de la Poésie in Paris — notably Cannibales by Régis Jauffret, performed at the Festival Correspondances in Manosque with Françoise Fabian, and Notre Château by Emmanuel Régniez, published by Le Tripode. In the same vein of sound illustration, and again in collaboration with Le Tripode, he composed the music for a graphic novel concert based on Le Livre by Nicolás Arispe.

Since 2015, he has led and composed for the project Grande Synthe, in a cinematic electro style crafted with vintage analog synthesizers. The first album was released in 2016, with a second following in 2024.

Karen Fichelson - Artistic collaboration

Actress and director. Her stage creation work is closely connected to a sound research approach, akin to a radio art form, combined with musical and visual creation. She develops this universe through both young audience productions and works for adult audiences.

Nils, created in 2017, is a docu-fiction for light and electric guitar, designed for children from age 2. This show, recognized as an artistic project by ONDA, was produced by Gommette Production. It has been performed at venues including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Cité Musicale de Metz, the SMAC Coopérative de Mai in Clermont-Ferrand, Petit Écho de la Mode (Châtelaudren), and Marionnetics (Binic).

She also creates small-scale works for young audiences such as La Petite Alice (for the Hors-Les-Murs program at Théâtre du Hublot, Colombes, 2015), Bestiaire (2018), and Abécédaire (2019), produced by the company Paule et Paule and presented within the Pièces à emporter program in Paris.

In 2022, she created Le Journal, a parodic performance that, by hiding news images, reveals the construction of media discourse. This show is currently touring.

She is also part of the electro pop-rock duo Einhorn, whose album DA! was released in 2023.

Additionally, holding a diploma as a drama teacher (D.E. professeure d’Art Dramatique), she regularly leads workshops and interventions for a wide range of audiences, including schools, middle schools, associations, conservatories, hospitals, prisons, and second-chance schools.
