À La Barre

Ronan Chéneau / Steeve Brunet

Based on real cases, interviews, and investigations, À La Barre proposes to share with an audience the difficult relationship between the justice system and the suffering endured by millions of women every day, from harassment at work to the crime of rape. The system falters for various reasons : an under-resourced justice system, the difficulty for victims to express or prove invisible acts and the pain that is hard to express. In these circumstances, how can justice truly be served ? The play denounces hidden violence in everyday life — within couples, families, and workplaces —  between men and women. Does justice transform society ? Or is it the other way around ? At the end of the performance, a discussion begins between the audience, artists, and specialists.

What can justice do regarding violence against women ?
