About Yvan & Else, bank of God
Dictated by the accounting balance sheet of our contemporary world, VAN & ELSE, BANK OF GOD is about love and contempt. It explores the existing connections between intimacy and society, from the point of view of a break-up.
By evoking the creation myth, Yvan and Else appear as a modern day Adam and Eve lost in a century that imposes its rule.
The author Laurent Plumhans
After his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Liège, Laurent Plumhans worked with Fabrice Murgia and Joël Pommerat. C’est quand la délivrance? was created in 2015 (Théâtre Le Public / Théâtre de Liège) and Que reste-t-il des vivants? in 2017 (Théâtre de la Vie / Fabrique de Théâtre - Mons 2015). His album IN MEMORIAM, released by the label Cyprès records in 2018, is based on his scene music. In 2018, Laurent Plumhans was a writing resident at la Chartreuse (Villeneuve-lez-Avignon) and produced Yvan & Else, bank of God at Théâtre Poème 2.
"It’s not you, it’s the economy: play explores why breaking up is still so hard to do."
"Laurent Plumhans gives pride of place to music in a strong, lively and remarkable play."
"The vision of a disturbing world where feelings inexorably fall apart... the dehumanization of beings triggered by the neo-liberal ideology... The new creation of a young author."
